Your shoes may be harming your reproductive system! Danger in shoes from China and the Far East: "They pose a risk of infertility and cancer."

Prof. Dr. Vefik Arıca from the University of Health Sciences stated that in analyses conducted by the Turkish Shoe Manufacturers Association (TASD), tests on some shoes imported from China and the Far East revealed levels of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium, as well as phthalate derivatives, which negatively affect the hormonal system, well above the limit values.
Prof. Dr. Vefik Arıca warned, "These products pose a threat not only to children but also to adults; they can cause cancer, impotence, and infertility."
Prof. Dr. Arıca stated that analyses conducted by TASD found heavy metals such as lead and cadmium, as well as hormone-disrupting phthalate derivatives, far above the limit values, and that the results pose a serious risk not only for children and teenagers but also for adults.
Prof. Dr. Arıca said, "The presence of such high levels of lead, cadmium, and phthalates in products that come into direct contact with the skin, such as shoes, is a very serious public health problem. These substances not only cause cancer, but can also disrupt the hormonal system, causing impotence, infertility , and permanent reproductive problems in adults."
Prof. Dr. Arıca stated that the effects of these substances may not be immediately noticeable, but in the long run, they pose an "invisible threat." Prof. Dr. Arıca said, "Health is much more valuable than saving a few lira. Our citizens should avoid cheap and unregulated products, and public authorities should conduct stricter inspections at customs. Otherwise, our public health will be under serious threat from cheap imported products."
